Women In Trucking Association Announces its February Member of the Month

Plover, WI (February 1, 2017) – Women in Trucking Association (WIT) announces Iesha Hawkins as its February Member of the Month.
Iesha was a mechanical building engineer when she decided to become a professional truck driver. She said, “I love to drive so what better way than doing what I love to do and get paid for it. It’s really like not working at all.” She has been driving professionally now for over three years.
As a company driver for National Carriers, Inc. (NCI), Iesha hauls refrigerated freight. In July 2016, she was named the National Carriers Driver of the Month. She was the youngest female in the company’s nearly 50 year history to be awarded this honor.
“Iesha is a military veteran, a dedicated mother and an excellent professional driver. She is a great example of young professional women making a positive impact in our industry,” said Ed Kentner, Director of social media, NCI.
Iesha loves what she does, but admits that it can be a challenge to be away from family for so long at a time. Her advice to other drivers is, “Strive to be the best driver you can be. Don’t let anyone discourage you from doing your job.”
Director of NCI Refrigerated division, Lex Mendenhall stated, “Iesha Hawkins exudes positivity with her appearance, attitude and job performance. She is a safety conscientious driver who puts our customers first. She is an excellent example of a young, professional driver who leads by example and National Carriers is fortunate to have her on our team.”Front of truck confident
