Ben Franklin said, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail!”

If this isn’t the epitome of the transportation industry then I don’t know what is!  As a planner at National Carriers we must have this mind-set. The planners don’t just focus on one specific driver or a specific customer; instead we have to focus on a fleet of drivers and a fleet of customers.  The planners for National Carriers have to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.  Our number 1 and 2 goals are driver success and customer success. Without both, there is no need for planners and ultimately there is no need for National Carriers. As a planner, you have to focus and find that relationship between the driver and customer that can meet the needs of all parties involved including our company needs.

To say it’s a challenge is an understatement and it’s what I love about this career choice I’ve made!  Planning is “controlled chaos,” it’s looking 5 days in advance at our driver and customer needs and putting plans together that can work for both. Things fall apart fast and at a moment’s notice, so you have to be prepared for anything and everything.  That’s the controlled chaos, if you don’t plan for it, then it just becomes chaos. Planning and having a back up plan, that rabbit in your hat if you will, makes all the difference between a successful today or a failed tomorrow!   At National Carriers, I think we have the right team in place and the most professional “Elite” drivers on the road to overcome any obstacle that stands in the way of a successful tomorrow!
