Lean Trucker Helps NCI “Shape” Up
If you’ve tried to lose weight before, you know how overwhelming it can be.
There’s contradicting information everywhere you look (i.e. should you eat more complex carbs or avoid carbs altogether?)
And most of it applies to a typical 9-5 worker with a set schedule, who is home every night, lives within a few miles of a gym, and eats home-cooked meals that he/she gets from a local grocery store.
But what if you’re a truck driver who spends most days of the week on the road? There’s few gyms near interstate highways , and you can’t just park your truck in the middle of a gym’s lot or on a street by a Whole Foods, not that you’d have the time to do so anyways. So you’re often left with the most convenient (and legal) option: truck stops.
With lack of better options, it’s no wonder that a study conducted by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health found that nearly 7 in 10 long-haul truck drivers are obese. And obesity predisposes people to a variety of related health conditions including diabetes and heart disease.
With a statistic like that, it can be easy to feel hopeless. But the fact of the matter is that you don’t need to be in the gym every day, or to eat like a rabbit, to lose weight. It comes down to recognizing the need to take action, and choosing one small change, and sticking to it every day. Take a look at the infographic by Lean Trucker below and implement just one small change TODAY.
