Where do “Elite” Drivers Come From?
When you ask successful drivers who taught them their craft you usually get one of two answers. One truck driver may say they learned the hard way through trial and error. After years of hard knocks this driver gained enough experience to operate and drive a truck successfully. Another driver may answer from a different background completely. They knew someone in the business that let them “tag along” and shadow them on the job, able to observe and be observed while learning the skills necessary to succeed. At National Carriers (NCI) we believe having a committed driving coach creates a better opportunity for the successful beginning to a new career.
NCI is committed to being the link between starting a new career in trucking and the many drivers who do not get the opportunity to be taught the best way to do things. Interested students who have successfully completed and graduated an accredited [1] CDL School and have been approved through the recruiting and hiring process will be required to drive a minimum of 7,500 miles with an approved NCI trainer. Upon successful completion of this on-road training, the student will then be required to complete an extensive road and written test administered and graded by the NCI Safety department. Upon passing this testing the student will then be placed as a solo driver into their own tractor and off to begin a life-long adventure with many exciting opportunities. And knowing everyone does not learn at the same pace, if additional training is needed at the point of completion then NCI will oblige the student with whatever is needed, the end goal being to produce a safe, compliant and skilled professional. Any students who may have previous verifiable on-road experience of more than 3 months but less than 6 months (not including training time) will be allowed to drive a minimum of 3,000 miles with a trainer and upon successful completion of the same final testing process mentioned above will then be placed as a solo driver.
